Community settle something for me.

A mid-range lv 20 guild has asked me to join up with them, but I really don't want to let them know that I'm higher level. Should I? I mean, it's a guild of all real life friends. I feel like I'd be getting in the way...

Do the game mechanics have accidental friendly fire settings?

Thankfully not. The closest it would come to is deliberately attempting to player kill someone but then everyone knows what happened.

There's a way to tell when someone does that?

The player indicators over our heads turn from green to yellow if you participate in Player Killing, and then if you successfully kill someone you turn red. If you don't attack someone for a while however it'll fade after a few days back to green.

However I heard of guilds forming, Laughing Coffin is a "popular" PK guild.

Any way to lock up an entire guild?

The player community has to police them. We have no NPCs capable of doing so.

That would get pretty messy.

It does. We have teleport crystals though that can teleport groups of people into prison though.

At least there's that. I was thinking more someone would try to go vigilante on them, then they'd get in trouble and people would be killing each other right and left over a claim of justice.

Most people avoid going red anyhow. So it's a moot point.

That's a relief.

[ Yuri's seen too much shit to have faith that everyone's good. Being in the afterlife basically guaranteed that every one of the people who ended up there was someone who was, but she knows that in the world of the living you don't get that kind of safety. ]

Yeah. We can't expect it from everyone but... it is a bad situation which could have been much worse.

I guess "It could be worse" never makes it any better though.

Any luck with getting a NerveGear or finding a worldhop that isn't reliant on bookshelves to get into SAO?

Still trying. I haven't heard anything from your sister back about any NerveGear yet.

She might be busy. It was finals month anyhow. I'll drop her an email later on.

All right. We're on concurrent timelines, Suguha and I, so it should be easy to get a hold of her.

She's lucky to still be able to contact you. I guess the community gets some things right.

I'm lucky to have her. I can't imagine what things would be like if we fell out of touch for years.

She can probably help the rest of your family feel better too and let other people in the world know if you have news about who they care about.

Yeah. We're trying to keep it under wraps for the time being, but... maybe it's time to let a few more people know.

Yeah.. Though maybe not. There's probably a danger in that too right? People not believing her since she can't prove she has community access. People get dangerous when it comes to people they care about.

Yeah, it's like that old American show Early Edition where the guy gets into so much trouble trying to keep people safe because he knows the future.

I've never heard of it. I was more thinking I'd probably hit whoever told me something like that in the face if they told me that they could talk to someone I cared about but didn't have any proof of it.
