Community settle something for me.

A mid-range lv 20 guild has asked me to join up with them, but I really don't want to let them know that I'm higher level. Should I? I mean, it's a guild of all real life friends. I feel like I'd be getting in the way...

Well, I guess considering other things it doesn't. A lot fewer ways to die if magic isn't involved.

There's still trap monsters, Player Killing, dungeon enemies and all sorts of things.

Well yeah, but at least it isn't trap monsters, player killing, enemies, black magic, blue magic, red magic, green magic, monster summons during battle, blood sacrifices to the magic gods, and the possibility of dying if you run out of magic points or whatever they're called.

Hah, yeah I get you. Without magic there's a lot less things that'll kill us.

That's probably the whole reason it wasn't included-- to make it more fair, as weird as that sounds for that whole situation.

Yeah that is something. Nothing would suck more than trying to make it to the next town and then getting say sniped by a fireball.

Do the game mechanics have accidental friendly fire settings?

Thankfully not. The closest it would come to is deliberately attempting to player kill someone but then everyone knows what happened.

There's a way to tell when someone does that?

The player indicators over our heads turn from green to yellow if you participate in Player Killing, and then if you successfully kill someone you turn red. If you don't attack someone for a while however it'll fade after a few days back to green.

However I heard of guilds forming, Laughing Coffin is a "popular" PK guild.

Any way to lock up an entire guild?

The player community has to police them. We have no NPCs capable of doing so.

That would get pretty messy.

It does. We have teleport crystals though that can teleport groups of people into prison though.

At least there's that. I was thinking more someone would try to go vigilante on them, then they'd get in trouble and people would be killing each other right and left over a claim of justice.

Most people avoid going red anyhow. So it's a moot point.

That's a relief.

[ Yuri's seen too much shit to have faith that everyone's good. Being in the afterlife basically guaranteed that every one of the people who ended up there was someone who was, but she knows that in the world of the living you don't get that kind of safety. ]

Yeah. We can't expect it from everyone but... it is a bad situation which could have been much worse.

I guess "It could be worse" never makes it any better though.

Any luck with getting a NerveGear or finding a worldhop that isn't reliant on bookshelves to get into SAO?

Still trying. I haven't heard anything from your sister back about any NerveGear yet.
